WNMU Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

The WNMU School of Business is providing tax services (VITA) for the community. Services are available to families and individuals with an annual household income of $57,000 or less, and for those who are 65 years or older. Returns will not be prepared in-person. Instead, taxpayers may drop off their tax forms at Light Hall Room 124, and students will complete the returns independently. Services will be offered on a walk-in basis on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Call 575-538-6637 to schedule a drop off. Bring your: Photo ID (Driver's license or other State ID) Original Social Security Card(s) for taxpayers and dependents Tax forms, such as W-2s/1099s/1099-SA from all employers Proof of applicable tax deductible expenditures Bank Account and Routing Numbers or (preferably) a voided check. Mimbres Press Launch of “Our Search for Meaning: A Humanistic Anthology”

Mimbres Press of Western New Mexico University will launch "Our Search for Meaning: A Humanistic Anthology" on Friday, February 25, 6-7 p.m. at WNMU J. Cloyd Miller Library. This book, which is used in Applied Liberal Arts and Sciences (ALAS) courses, examines the intellectual history of western civilization within the context of four questions: What is truth? What is justice? What does it mean to be human? What is the good life? The book consists of excerpts from classic works ranging from "The Epic of Gilgamesh" to George Orwell’s "1984," alongside short essays contextualizing these works and didactic material designed to get students discussing the four questions. The book is co-authored by Drs. Katherine Oubre and Phillip Schoenberg, with an introduction by WNMU Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jack Crocker.
