Albuquerque-based Baracutanga is a seven-piece band representing four different countries (Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, USA) that prides itself on arranging traditional South American rhythms in new and interesting ways, such as huayño and cumbia with Middle-Eastern darbuka or mixing Afro-Cuban bata and Afro-Peruvian festejo with Andean zampoñas, among several other rhythmic combinations.

Voter Registration starts at 6:30 PM on the FACT patio. Masks and social distancing required.

Mariachi Plata will play outside the Fine Arts Center Theatre around 7 p.m. Baracutanga will perform a live streamed concert in the Fine Art Center Theatre from 8 to 10 p.m. The event will be available in real time on YouTube AND projected onto the south wall of the Fine Arts Center Theatre for those who would like to drive in and dance immediately outside their vehicles while physical distancing.

Emceed by WNMU Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Isaac Brundage, the evening includes videos about the history of voting in America, a message from New Mexico State Auditor Brian S. Colón, and information on how to vote this fall.

Come dance to the music whether on campus or in your living room, and if you’re in town, then stop by and register to vote with Rawhide as your witness. The parking lot will open at 5:30 p.m., and voter registration will be available from 6:30 to 10 p.m. outside Fine Art Center Theatre.
