(Four O'clock Family)


The Nyctaginaceae are herbs mostly with opposite leaves. They have no true petals, although the parts at the base of the plant (involucre & petaloid calyx) may almost perfectly simulate a tubular corolla. In some species though, the involucre contains several flowers.
