WNMU Career Workshop Sponsored by LDSSA April 7, 2015 12 noon – 1:30 PM Seminar Room – 3rd floor, Student Memorial Center Purpose: To assist students in obtaining employment by identifying potential employers; writing quality resumes; securing interviews and interviewing successfully. Clarifying employment goals, identifying strengths and weaknesses and preparing “me in 30 seconds” statements. Identifying potential employers, networking, writing resumes, and securing an interview. Preparing for and participating in a successful interview; conduct mock interview; and Interview follow-up Each section will require about 30 minutes to present. “The Career Workshop” Participant’s Workbook will be used as the text for the Workshop with two highly qualified presenters. Delta Mu Delta honor society is hosting Bruce Ashburn for its upcoming Guest Lecture Series speaker. Bruce Ashburn has been a part of the Southwestern New Mexico Community since 1995. Originally coming to Southwest New Mexico to open a Domino’s Pizza Franchise, Ashburn opened his first unit in Silver City in 1995 and a unit in Deming the following year.  After selling those franchise rights in 2006, Ashburn went to work for the Small Business Development Center housed at WNMU. There he focused on Economic Development; more specifically on Business Retention and Expansion by working with small businesses in the local four county area. Ashburn is currently the Community Manager for PNM in Southwest New Mexico. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Management and Supervision from Western New Mexico University.
