Alternative Spring Break in Dominican Republic

Introduction: WNMU Department of Student Life would like to host their second International Alternative Spring Break trip! This March, a group will have the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic! We will spend a week participating in food distributions to impoverished communities, working in orphanages, and volunteering with children. Of course there will also be excursions and cultural immersion opportunities as well! This is an alternative trip hosted through WNMU, therefore all school policies apply. This is a dry trip meaning no illegal substances or alcohol is permitted. Students must have health insurance, a current passport, and be in good standing with the institution. Those who are interested in participating will need to complete this application. An interview process will take place in October 2017. Nomination Deadline for School of Education’s Hall of Fame

The Western New Mexico University School of Education's Hall of Fame recognizes exemplary educators and records the accomplishments of those selected. To qualify for the Hall of Fame: Candidates must be a graduate of Western New Mexico University or its predecessor institutions. Candidates must have a dominant interest in classroom teaching. Candidates must have dedicated a major portion of their professional career to classroom teaching at the primary, secondary, or higher education levels. Candidates may also be Administrators and Counselors who started their careers as teachers, made the transition to administration or counseling, and continued to make significant contributions to the lives of children. These honored educators are elected to the Hall of Fame for their special ability to impart knowledge in the classroom, to inspire a willingness to learn, to instill confidence in students, and to demonstrate respect for both learning and students.
