Light Hall was built in 1928 as the university’s library and auditorium. Designed in the Renaissance Revival style by the noted Southwest architectural firm Trost & Trost and named for C. M. Light, WNMU’s president from 1896 to 1915, the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Its beautifully renovated auditorium, Light Hall Theater, serves as a film and performance venue for the campus and the Silver City community. It is home to the President’s Chamber Music Series and the Distinguished Speaker Series, and regularly hosts film screenings, concerts and lectures presented by WNMU Cultural Affairs.
